My dear darling,
It feels great to have finally won that blasted battle! Thank God our beloved king, duncan, was not involved at all. I cannot believe that that rebel, Macdonwald. would dare defy the king. Thank God we had macbeth and Banquo on our side. Without the two of them fighting and leading the army as captains, who knows what would have happened. We only managed to teach those scoundrels not to mess with the natural order thanks to Macbeth's ferocity and Banquo's brilliant tactics. It was the two of them who planned the assult and Macbeth himself who killed the soundrel macdonwald. Though, at this point, I'm beginning to doubt whether he decapitated the rebel to honour the king or to sate his ow bloodthirstiness. Don't worry, I'm relatively unscathed, I'm in no danger of dying anytime soon. I should be back in scotland the day after tomorrow, I just have a few more loose ends to tie up. Until then, could you help me with something? If you get the chance, could you help me confirm a rumor? I heard from one of the messengers that the Thane of Cawdor has turned traitor and has been sentenced to death for it. Could you help me to find out who is most likely to recieve the position? Thanks.
From your loving husband,
Macduff.
